Welcome to today's blog post. Today, we will be learning about how advertisements have changed since the past. Advertisements have been embedded into our everyday lives. Think about when was the last time you saw an advertisement? It's probably just a few minutes ago!
Advertisement are everywhere
We see advertisements on televisions, we see them on Instagram and YouTube, we even see them when we are enjoying our drama, with all the clever ad placements!
However, advertisements were not so sophisticated in the past. Unlike the carefully planned out ad placement that we occasionally see in our dramas, advertisements were not so seamless in the past. Let's take a look at some of the core changes.
Did you know...
that back in the early 19th century, products were just advertised as "soap", "bread", etc. It was only until the later 19th century, that brands emerged, changing the whole advertisement game. This infographic below will summarize all you need to know about the evolution of advertising.

How it all started and how it is like now...
Started out as a more "straight-forward" approach, becoming more complexed and consumer-focused.
Comparing with how advertisement first started out, I would certainly think that advertisements now are becoming more and more complicated. In the past, the focus was more on how companies want to make their brand stand out and appeal to customers. However, the objective now is more on understanding consumers' needs. There is a shift from simply advertising themselves, to comprehensive consumer research.
